Missing items sought

Anyone with information on these missing items are being urged to contact Martie.

Martie Engelbrecht needs the community’s help to locate some missing items.

“I am trying to locate lost paintings and glass-framed artwork of mine and would appreciate it if you could assist me,” Engelbrecht said.

“There are five paintings by a late friend of mine, each signed with her name, Nan, and a decade identification.”

The paintings went missing in 2019 when Martie’s daughter moved some of her possessions to their home in Heidelberg.

“When they moved to a different home, they accidentally left the paintings in a wardrobe and the person who bought the house said there was nothing there,” Engelbrecht explained.

The paintings and other items can be described as follows:

• An oil painting of the rock at KwaMaritane.

• A painting of a fish eagle, approximately 1m in height, a hoopoe foraging on the ground, flowering red amaryllis and lilac-coloured pansies.

• A large puzzle of the Wise Men bestowing gifts upon the Baby Jesus.

• Weighing of the Heart on papyrus in a double glass panel with an explanation on the flip side.

• Another papyrus with Martie’s name written in Egyptian hieroglyphic, from top to bottom, with an owl, vulture, mouth, loaf and two feathers.

• A box frame with a music sheet of the Ave Maria and a mini-violin.

“These items may not be valuable to somebody else, but it is very sentimental to me,” Engelbrecht said.
