Suspicious behaviour leads to arrest

Drugs are not welcome in Heidelberg.

Three people were arrested on drug charges by local police on January 21.

During a patrol, Consts Bonginkosi Nxumalo and Walter Shivhambu noticed two men walking along Meyer Street. The pair started acting suspiciously as soon as it noticed the SAPS officials.

Nxumalo and Shivhambu stopped and searched the individuals during which 22 packets of crystal meth and nine packets of khat were found in their possession. The duo was then arrested.

The street value of the drugs is estimated to be about R3 000.

On the same day, Sgt Vusimuzi Zondo and Const Jean-Pierre Lewis arrested a man in Kismet Street, Shalimar Ridge, for possession of dagga and drinking in public.

All the arrested individuals, who are foreign nationals, were detained at Heidelberg SAPS.

They will appear in the Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court soon.

Residents are encouraged to contact their nearest SAPS station if they notice any suspicious or illegal activity.
