Case withdrawn against Katlehong man accused of keeping daughter as a sex slave

The father has been released while the child is still in a place of safety for further observation.

The rape case lodged by the 18-year-old girl against her father has been withdrawn.

According to Mtwa, the case was withdrawn by the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on January 24.

“The court withdrew the case based on a lack of evidence. According to a witness, who is a neighbour, the child was not raped,” said Mtwa.

He also confirmed the father has been released while the child is still in a place of safety for further observation.

Mtwa explained that usually in cases of rape, doctors are assigned to assess the victim while the case goes to court.

“Once the investigation officer gets the report from doctors, he has the right to take the case back to court. At the moment, we will wait for the report,” said Mtwa.
