Donating blood saves lives

Visit www.sanbs.org.za to find your nearest blood donor centre.

The Caxton Joburg South team visited the Alberton Donor Centre in Alberton City on January 11 to play their part to save lives.

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) relies on donors to provide life-giving blood. Due to the nature of blood, it is impossible to manufacture artificially, meaning the only source of blood is from donors.

The current blood stocks at SANBS are critically low, according to their website. This means that they have less than three days of blood on supply for people to use. They are especially short on B+, AB- and 0+ type blood.

You can do your part and save the lives of up to three people by visiting your nearest donor centre and donating.
Details about your nearest centre can be found on the SANBS website www.sanbs.org.za. On the website, you can also find a two-minute quiz to find out if you are eligible to donate.
