The suspects were apprehended on charges of attempted business robbery at the Greylingstad Post Office on January 4.

According to the information, a suspicious male and female entered the premises with a big box just after a cash delivery vehicle had left.

The two tried to force their way in, but the employees on duty denied them access and locked the burglar door.

Police were immediately notified and on their arrival, they arrested the suspects.

Some other suspects fled the scene in a gold Toyota Fortuner while others tried to evade the arrest by fleeing on foot.

The suspects were chased and arrested by astute members.

Four were arrested initially while two more were arrested after reportedly driving away in a silver Ford Ranger.

They were cornered at a police roadblock in Johannesburg.

The six suspects were put behind bars on the day and the two vehicles were seized.

Among the arrested suspects were two Zimbabwean nationals, one Botswana national and three South African nationals.

Police cannot yet rule out the possibility of linking the suspects’ other crimes. The suspects were expected to appear in the Balfour Magistrate’s Court on January 6 where they were charged with attempted business robbery.
