Dipaleseng appoints new political leaders

The Dipaleseng municipality appointed their new political leaders on November 23, following the municipal elections earlier this month.

Dipaleseng Local Municipality (DLM) swore in their new political leaders at the inauguration held at the Council Chamber on November 23.

The sitting was graced by representatives from the Provincial Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and the local Audit Committee, with Balfour magistrate Clinton Moldenhauer officiating the oath-taking of councillors.

Clr Khethiwe Moeketsi has been elected as the new mayor, Clr Xolani Shozi is the speaker of council, while the chief whip position is occupied by Clr Tryphina Shabalala and the MPAC chairperson is Clr Kent Nyamade.

The mayor was also elected as the council’s representative to the Gert Sibande District Municipality.

Speaker Xolani Shozi, Mayor Khethiwe Moeketsi and Busi Khanye, the acting municipal manager of the Dipaleseng Local Municipality.

The ward councillors for this new term are as follows:

• Clr Xolani Shozi (Ward 1)

• Clr Deon Makhoba (Ward 2)

• Clr Ahmed-Nazir Carrim (Ward 3)

• Clr Mojalefa Miya (Ward 4)

• Clr Kent Nyamade (Ward 5)

• Clr Tryphinah Shabalala (Ward 6)

The ANC representatives are Clr Khethiwe Moeketsi and Clr Zakhele Maya.

Clr Sbongile Nhlapho and Clr Koos Dladla both represent the EFF.

The DA is represented by Clr Refiloe Matakane, and Clr Karel Pienaar is the FF Plus representative.

The municipality congratulated and welcomed the new leadership on board and looks forward to a fruitful relationship of servicing and bettering the lives of the community.
