KT Wash and Detergent held an awareness and wellness day on October 28 for the benefit of its staff and other stakeholders.
Nomkhosi Xulu and Rose Mokoena represented the Powa women's rights organisation and spoke about gender-based violence and abusive relationships. The two women also made themselves available to talk to any person who needed to.
Various organisations joined the business to create awareness of health issues as well as to ensure the wellness of their members.
Experts talked with those in attendance regarding issues most people often deem as unimportant.
After this, members from Gym 2000 helped to get the crowd active with a fitness class.
Members could then speak to experts for free regarding health and safety issues.
Staff members and stakeholders benefited from various screenings (including cancer, Covid-19, HIV and TB) and could test their blood sugar and pressure, speak to advocates against gender-based violence and speak to the employee assistance personnel regarding workplace issues.
Those who needed to could also discuss drug and substance abuse with experts from Alcoholics Anonymous or the Elim Clinic.
