The future is in your hands-SAPS to learners

SAPS members addressed learners on behaviour and criminal offences.

SAPS members addressed learners at Hoër Volkskool on September 27 about activities and behaviours that may lead to criminal offences.

Social crime-prevention officer Capt Mzwandile Blose and communications officer Const Doris Nkosi spoke to learners about criticisms and bullying in schools that often result in disobedient behaviours.

“It is important to enhance a good relationship with learners for them to not feel scared when they see any police member because we are here to protect them and not harm them,” said Blose.

“Maintaining a good relationship with our youth will enable them to report crimes committed against them more freely and to talk when something happens that they don’t like.”

The objective was to get learners to understand the effect of their behaviours towards others and the damage they could potentially cause emotionally, physically and mentally.

Learners were also sensitised about the prohibition of any drugs and weapons on school premises.

“The future is in your hands,” said Nkosi.

“Our learners must stay in school and get educated for a brighter future.

“Refrain from bad behaviour, peer pressure and cyberbullying and focus on your studies.

“Education is the key to success.”

Nkosi also appealed to the parents of learners to instil discipline and respect in their children to assist teachers in schools.
