High Court confirms restraint order against former Eskom executives

The hearing is scheduled for October 4.

The Gauteng South local division of the High Court of South Africa in Johannesburg has confirmed the provisional restraint order valued at R1.4-billion against former Tubular Construction Projects CEO Antonio Trindade, his wife and company Tubular Construction Projects, as well as former Eskom senior manager for capital contracts France Hlakudi and businessman Maphoko Kgomoeswana.

The confirmations originate from the provisional restraint order handed down on July 21.

The court is yet to decide whether to confirm the restraint in respect of Eskom’s former group executive for Group Capital, Abram Masango. The hearing is scheduled for October 4.

“Hlakudi, Trindade, Masango and Kgomoeswana face charges of fraud and corruption in the R745-million criminal case, which the restraint order stems from,” said NPA Investigating Directorate spokesperson Sindisiwe Seboka.

“Kgomoeswana faces an additional charge of money laundering in that matter. One of the accused in both matters, Michael Lomas, is still in the United Kingdom where his extradition hearing will commence on December 20.”
