Operation Basadi wraps up in style

The operation done in honour of Women's Month came to a close on August 27.

The integrated Operation Basadi between Nigel and Duduza SAPS concluded on August 27.

Visible policing was conducted in the Duduza area, which included saturation patrols.

The operation was done to raise awareness of gender-based violence (GBV) by engaging with the community.

In celebration of Women’s Month, SAPS members from both stations were joined by representatives from correctional services, Gauteng Traffic, EMPD, community safety and Women Safety Promotors.

Those involved in the operation searched vehicles and handed out gift packages to women as a token of appreciation.

In total, 13 traffic fines to the value of R5 800 were issued for several transgressions. Three people were also arrested for assault and house break-in.

Addressing the off-duty parade was the Duduza SAPS station commander, Lt Col Bheki Mhlungu, who thanked members for their outstanding work and emphasised that operations of this nature should be sustained to enhance the safety of the community, especially women and children.

Women who portrayed roles in law enforcement were praised for their roles.
