Municipal services may be affected by riots

City of Ekurhuleni states that services may be delayed due to riots across the region.

Turnaround time to attending to service requests and providing other services, such as waste collection, power and water outages, may be delayed.

This according to the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) is due to sporadic riots witnessed in the region.

Residents who have not had their waste collected are encouraged to keep their waste bins outside as the CoE is working to clear the backlog.

Zweli Dlamini, City spokesperson, said some City officials might also have been unable to get to work due to road blockages in different areas.

“Furthermore, the residents are urged not to vandalise any property or infrastructure whether private or public.

Vandalism of infrastructure is a setback to the quest to develop communities and provide services necessary to build an environment for economic prosperity,” he said.

He said service complaints and requests must still be lodged from the necessary platforms such as My COE App, Call Centre 0860 543 000, Twitter @CoE_Call_Centre and call.centre@ekurhuleni.gov.za
