Vaccination site now open in Heidelberg

Life Suikerbosrand Hospital has commenced with administering vaccines to members of the public who are 50-years of age or older, who have registered on the government EVDS and have been allocated to this hospital site for their vaccination appointment.

This is in support of South Africa’s second phase of the national vaccination program.

“People 50 years and over should register on the EVDS and will receive an SMS notification providing the date and vaccination site that they should visit,” explained Kubashnee Naidoo, Hospital Manager at the Life Suikerbosrand Hospital.

Life Suikerbosrand Hospital’s vaccination site may be able to assist walk-in persons who are not allocated via the EVDS, and only when individuals with scheduled appointments have been attended to.

Additionally, this will only be possible within the limitation of the number of vaccines and personnel available at the vaccination site on any day.

The vaccination site is a service provided on behalf of the government and the hospital may be obliged to pause the vaccination programme at any point should the anticipated supply of vaccines not materialise or be delivered by the government’s vaccine suppliers.
