Foundation helps feed community

The Foundation aimed to help the community by handing out food parcels.

The Community Development Foundation reached out to some community members of Alra Park when they helped feed 150 people on June 29.

According to Past Barlin Govender, the founder of the foundation, they facilitate various outreach and feeding programmes across the country where they see a need in a community.

The foundation provided members of the community with fresh bread, vegetables and soup.

“I am passionate about helping people, as I come from a poor background,” said Govender, who added he has seen a great need in communities for food, clothing and housing.

Past Allen Mnene and Past Barlin Govender from the Community Development Foundation aided the community of Alra Park on June 29.

“It gives me a great amount of joy when we help and make a difference in a community. I can’t even begin to explain the satisfaction I get from caring for and helping others.

“My message to this community is simple: always be kind, caring and loving to one another. “My slogan in life is if today is my last day on earth, I will endeavour to do my best and do everything I can for my fellow brothers and sisters to make them happy.”
