Duration of power outage unknown

There is no indication as of yet pertaining to the duration of the power outage.

In a statement released by video, Wollaston Labuschagne, ward councillor for Nigel (Ward 88), advised there is no indication as to how long the power outage in the Nigel area will last.

The pylon structure that collapsed yesterday (June 20) will need to be reconstructed by existing City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) contractors.

“I spoke to the energy department’s operations manager, who advised they are sourcing existing CoE contractors who will be able to erect this pylon again,” explained Labuschagne.

“I have indicated that we have local engineering companies who can erect the pylon; however, I was advised that existing CoE contractors must be used.”

CoE informed Labuschagne at this stage there is no indication as to how long the power outage might last or by when the pylon will be re-erected.

“I will continue to update the public on any information which I might receive,” said Labuschagne.

Updates surrounding the power outage will follow as received.
