Youth awareness campaign continues

The school was visited as part of the Youth Month Outreach Awareness Programme.

The Social Crime Prevention and CPF coordinator, Capt Mzwandile Blose, as well as Const Nosiphiwo Makinana, the Domestic Violence and Victim Friendly Facility coordinator, visited Heidelberg Public School on June 10.

Learners from Grades One to Four were addressed separately in compliance with Covid-19 regulations.

Children were also encouraged to wear masks at all times while at school, in public places and while using public transport to limit Covid-19 infections.

The importance of adhering to a 1.5m social distance was also emphasised, as well as frequent handwashing.

Capt Mzwandile Blose and Const Nosiphiwo Makinana of the Heidelberg SAPS addressed learners about Covid-19 level two regulations.

The visit formed part of the Youth Month Outreach Awareness Programme and Heidelberg SAPS will continue to visit schools, pre-schools and crèches to educate, sensitise and conduct awareness to learners on abstaining from engagement in criminal activities, substance and drug abuse, bullying each other, avoiding human trafficking, playing with dangerous weapons as well as staying away from playing or using electrical appliances without the supervision of an adult.

The school principal, Johan Pretorius, was pleased with the good partnership between the police and the school in encouraging good behaviour and moral regeneration among learners.
