Residents warned about wheelie bin theft

The City urges residents to approach the nearest waste management depot as soon as possible to report a stolen bin.

A resident of Nigel recently brought it to the attention of the HERAUT that wheelie bins are being stolen in the area.

The theft of bins is a major inconvenience for residents who have to have the bins replaced.

According to City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, the municipality is aware of the issue.

He advised residents to remove their bins from the curbside as soon as possible after they have been emptied by the municipal crew.

Where a wheelie bin is reported as stolen, the owner of the property is urged to approach the nearest waste management depot and apply for a replacement.

The council will replace the stolen bin free of charge provided an affidavit, copy of ID and a water and lights statement has been submitted.
