Cable thieves caught red-handed

The copper cables and vehicle were seized by police.

Police arrested four men for possession of suspected stolen cables on April 13.

The men were nabbed around 8.30pm along Station Street after they were spotted in the act by members of Afri Guard Security Patrol, who immediately reported the incident to the police.

A quick response by Heidelberg Crime Prevention Team officers Sgt John Mokgethoa and Const Jean Piere Lewis led to the arrest of the four for possession of suspected stolen property.

A vehicle was found loaded with copper cables.

The cables and vehicle were seized by police.

The suspects will appear in the Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court soon.
