Man arrested for intimidating and contravening a protection order

A 32-year-old man was arrested for intimidation and contravention of a protection order last Saturday after he harassed his ex-girlfriend the day before.

The victim (32) received various threatening messages from her ex-boyfriend where he told her of his intent to harass her for her entire life.

He also told her of his intent to kill her because she ended their relationship in 2017.

The victim ended the relationship due to its abusive nature. She applied for a protection order against him immediately after the break-up.

On Saturday the victim opened a case against her former partner, who was immediately arrested by the Heidelberg SAPS.

The man will appear in the Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court soon.

Heidelberg SAPS station commander Col Phiwe Samuel Ndwandwe warned those who are involved in abusing, harassing and committing sexual offences that the police will apply the law without fear, favour or prejudice.

Ndwandwe added that Heidelberg SAPS has appointed a full-time victim-friendly facility coordinator who will be dealing with sexual offences, domestic violence and other harassment cases.
