Heidelberg Hospital color the streets

Heidelberg Hospital staff members participated in a 3.5km fun walk as part of commemorating breast cancer and mental health awareness month.

Led by the acting CEO, Lebo Khumalo, Heidelberg Hospital staff members were seen in the streets of Heidelberg town on October 23 dressed in pink and green outfits, as part of raising awareness for the illnesses.

They enhanced the event by displaying posters and banners in support of people who experience mental health, as well as breast and prostate cancer.

This fun walk was also graced by the presence of the executive mayor of Lesedi Municipality, Lerato Maloka, who also took part in this 3.5km fun walk that ended inside the premises of Heidelberg Hospital, where various  indigenous games took place. After completing the games, staff members proceeded to the Army Gymnasium, where netball and soccer tournaments took place. All those who took part and completed the walk were rewarded with gold medals.

“The event also formed part of the staff wellness programme as it contributed immensely towards boosting staff morale. We are grateful for the sponsors who contributed and made this event a successful one,” Khumalo said.
