Heidelberg Chamber of Business get together after lockdown

Recycling, partnership and live entertainment was at the order of the day on October 13 at the Heidelberg Chamber of Business monthly meeting.

Suzan Basson (president) opened the evening with prayer and thanked everyone for making a difference in the community.

The evening was about celebrating life and being able to get together after lockdown restrictions were reduced to level one.

“We embraced technology during the lockdown restrictions. We stayed in touch, but are happy to meet again in person,” Basson said.

Brenda Scott (project manager) introduced the community initiative, ‘Team Up to Clean Up’. “We are fortunate to have partnered with local business owners who support our paper recycling project, but as this is a community project, we need to be financially equipped to perform our task. We are therefore requesting more involvement from individuals and business owners,” Scott said.

The committee members from ‘I love Nigel’ were also invited and the chairperson Jake Ceronio spoke about their progress in cleaning up the town.

“We are planning recycling initiatives and will be approaching schools to get involved with recycling by getting children to bring their plastic items to school, where it will be collected for recycling. In exchange they will receive tuck shop money,” Ceronio added.

The chamber is planning a golf day on October 24 and the next member’s meeting is scheduled for November.

The evening ended with musical artist Ian von Memerty ‘zoomed’ in for entertainment.
