Wanted suspect

SAPS Nigel said although members of Nigel Community on Patrol (NCOP) arrested a suspect on September 8, they remain concerned over the number of electric gate motors that are still being stolen across town.

Thieves are targeting gate motors that are easily accessible and the police have urged residents to safeguard their gate motors by implementing various security measures, such as engraving the gate motor with the owner’s details or street address.

“This will assist the police in tracing the owners if a gate motor is found,” Sgt Nellie Dwaba (SAPS spokesperson) said.

SAPS Nigel further appealed to homeowners to secure their gate motors with hardened steel reinforcements or brackets to ensure it cannot be removed or tampered with and they urged the community to report theft of electric gate motors by phoning SAPS Nigel on 011 812 6503 or the sector numbers below:
