Former Marievale Military Base resident in desperate need of help

Over the past three years, 52-year-old Lynn Forster has physically and emotionally endeared more than most of us have in our lifetimes.

This former resident of Marievale Military Base was among the hundreds of residents that were forcefully evicted from their homes in November 2017.

Shortly thereafter, Forster fell critically ill due to diabetes and as a result of gangrene, her right leg was amputated just below the knee. At the time, Forster was seven months pregnant, but because of daily morphine dosages and other medication, she also lost the baby.

Since then, Forster and her husband Brett had not been able to make ends meet and are now in desperate need of help.

Forster said she is receiving a monthly disability grant from Sassa and her husband earns a small income as a security guard, but they are also faced with astronomical monthly medical expenses, and still has to pay rent at their small two-bedroom flat.

In a last desperate call, Forster reached out to HERAUT for help and said they have never in the past three years asked anyone for financial assistance. The lockdown has however, put more strain on their financial predicament and the Forsters are now with the backs against the wall. After they have paid their rent and purchased her medication, Forster said there is little money left to buy food.

Anyone who can help the Forsters with food donations, can phone her on 074 200 2705.
