Heidelberg resident goes public after testing positive for Covid-19

A resident from Overkruin (Heidelberg) yesterday went public after she tested positive for Covid-19.

Her decision to do this may be seen as heroic, as the community can now grasp how easy it is to contract this virus. She stated that she was very careful and made use of a mask and gloves when doing shopping, and furthermore stated that she is not sure how and where exactly she contracted the virus.

HERAUT subsequently contacted Alan Mills, a manager at Pick n Pay Heidelberg to investigate their action plan to keep their outlet free of germs and safe for public use.

According to Mills, the entire supermarket is sanitised on a daily basis and throughout the day.

“Our staff cleans shelves, door handles, surfaces, pay points and isles continuously with sanitiser. The safety of our customers as well as our staff is our main priority and we are doing everything in our power to keep our supermarket clean,” Mills confirmed.

Customers are however, urged to follow the social distancing protocol when they do their shopping. Sanitize your hands and make your shopping as brief as possible.

Also, make use of the many alternative options available for shopping.

  • Pick n Pay Heidelberg has an online shopping option, drive-through service as well as deliveries in Heidelberg, Balfour, Nigel and Springs. Follow the instructions for online shopping at www.pnp.co.za.
  • For the drive-through service, email your shopping list to pnponlineheidelberg@gmail.com.

You will receive a phone call to collect at the Spur parking lot behind the supermarket. Phone them on 016 341 4810 for more information.

  • Spar Heidelberg also offers delivery of groceries in Heidelberg only and orders can be placed via WhatsApp to 084 619 6739 or 078 894 7486 or phone 016 349 1396/7 for more information.
  • Eskort Butchery makes placing orders for their order-and-collect service extremely easy. Orders are done via WhatsApp and customers need to collect their orders in the parking bay where strict and safety regulations are in place. Phone 016 340 4635 for more information.
