Katy bags four distinctions: Nigel Secondary

Only 45 matric learners completed their final matric exams at Nigel Secondary School in 2019.

The school achieved a pass rate of 93,3%, which has seen a dropped of 3,9% since the previous year. 22 Learners passed with admission to a university Bachelor’s Degree, while 17 passed with admission to a national diploma.

Katy van Wyk is the top learner and boasts four distinctions, while Zanele Mnguni is the second-best academic performer with three distinctions.

“Although our pass rate has dropped slightly this year, I am still really proud of this small group of learners. Our school is second in the Gauteng East District, which says a whole lot about the quality of education we provide. I want to thank the matric learners, teachers, parents, SGB members and our sponsors for contributing towards the success of the school. Congratulations to all our matrics and we wish you all the best on your future endevours,” Dion Vengatsamy (principal) said.
