Police launch manhunt

Nine suspects escaped from the Springs Magistrates Court on December 4.

Gauteng Police have launched a manhunt after nine prisoners escaped from the Springs Magistrates Court on December 4.

Four of the escapees made an appearance in court in March for alleged murder committed in Kwa-Thema and possession of illegal firearms. The other suspects were appearing for house break-in and theft, possession of drugs, trespassing and for being an illegal immigrant.

  2. Mzandile Master Mbatha (murder and possession of firearms)
  3. Mduduzi Richard Sithole (murder and possession of firearms)
  4. Mongiseni Cyprian Langa (murder and possession of firearms)
  5. Sibande Sibekezele Xulu (house break-in and theft)
  6. Clayton Donovan Booysen (possession of drugs)
  7. William Reddinghuiz (possession of drugs)
  8. Augustine Mahlalela (trespassing)
  9. Anock Nyirenda (illegal immigrant)

Police are appealing to the public to assist in locating these escapees. Members of the public are warned not to confront the prisoners, particularly the murder suspects as they are considered dangerous and possibly armed.
