Please avoid the R42 Vereeniging Road (10km outside of Heidelberg, close to Sionsberg) as there has been a serious accident (today November 13 around 11:40) between a bike and a light motor vehicle. One person declared dead on the scene and another rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
According to Captain Thivhulawi Tshilate (spokesperson) of Heidelberg SAPS, eyewitnesses say that the driver of the light motor vehicle lost control and drifted into oncoming traffic. Three bikers (from Vereeniging) managed to avoid a collision, but the fourth biker slammed into the car. The 63-year-old biker was rushed to hospital. The driver of the vehicle can not yet be identified.
