Help solve these murders

Four murder cases in Heidelberg still unsolved.

Heidelberg SAPS detective branch needs the help of the community in solving four murder cases.

The first murder case is that of Mr Piet van Deventer (64) who was badly assaulted in his house in Marshall Street on November 3, 2017. He was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition and died later due to the severity of his injuries. A witness recognised him from video footage that was taken in a nearby liquor store just before the murder. Police are looking for a black man around the age of 40 years. He was carrying a plastic bag in his hand (presumably with the murder weapon inside) and was wearing a blue overall top, jeans and white and blue tekkies.

Murder case of Boet Smal

Police also need the public’s help in the murder case of Boet Smal (78) in June 2018 (on his small holding in Boschfontein). Police are looking for two black male suspects. The one is tall and light in complexion with the second suspect described as a short thin man.

Precious Mashinini found murdered on January 18, 2018

27-Year-old Precious Mashinini’s brutally assaulted body was found on January 18 last year at a dumping site on the R103 (Old Alberton Road) in the Rooikraal area. She delivered a baby girl in December of the previous year and told her aunt on the day of her murder that she was taking the baby to Bertha Gxowa Hospital in Vosloorus for a check-up.

Precious was severely assaulted and strangled before her body was dumped. Her baby was never found.

The murder case of Portia Sebekwa

The fourth case is that of Portia Sebekwa (44) whose body was found in her house in Jameson Park on May 6 of this year. She was laying on her bed with a single bullet wound to the chest. Police suspect that she was murdered elsewhere due to no excess blood found on the scene.
