MM cleared from irregularities
An internal investigation found no irregularities and the report stated that ‘all supply chain management processes were followed to the letter.’
HEIDELBERG – No irregularities were found against Advocate Gugu Thimane (acting Municipal Manager: Lesedi Local Municipality) after allegations about a multi-million rand tender allegedly being awarded without going to tender and not following the correct tender procedures.
An internal investigation found no irregularities and the report stated that ‘all supply chain management processes were followed to the letter.’ The report was sent to the MEC COGTA on July 10, but to date he has not reacted to it.
Various LLM councillors including Mr Mluleki Nkosi (Speaker), DA as well as EFF members spoke openly confirming the report’s findings and that it was adopted unanimously by the council.
Advocate Thimane told HERAUT that she is humbled by the support she received from residents.
Throughout the investigation, the MM maintained that she is innocent and that it was a smear campaign against her for trying to get rid of corruption within the municipality. She welcomed an investigation and gave her full support.
“I will make sure that the municipality’s resources serve the people on the ground,” Advocate Thimane concluded.
