Nigel gymnasts shine at Gauteng festival

More than 1000 gymnasts from clubs all over the Gauteng area competed in the festival.

Gymnasts from Nigel Gymnastics Club who qualified to represent Eastern Gauteng took part at the Gauteng Festival on May 25, May 31 and June 1 in Kempton Park. More than 1000 gymnasts from clubs all over the Gauteng area competed in the festival.

Gymnasts had the opportunity to qualify to represent Eastern Gauteng at the upcoming South Zone competition being held later this month in Bloemfontein. Gymnasts had to achieve above 8.50 averages to qualify. With a whopping 30 medals (gold – five, silver – 14 and bronze – 11) these gymnasts know what they are doing.

 
Alyssa Maritz received a gold medal and she placed overall third in her age group (6 to 8 years) where she competed against 40 other gymnasts.

 
The following gymnasts qualified to represent their club and province: JJ Oosthuizen, Christian Smuts, Reinhart Joubert, Ame Swanepoel, Lana Bedeker, Kaylie Grobler, Liane du Toit, Angelique van den Berg, Zunica Duvenage, Ami Oosthuizen, Amore Bosch, Ashton Schouw, Amelia Strydom, Dominique Kriel, Ine Viljoen, Alyssa Maritz, Kaylee de Bruyne, Maryke Hauptfleisch and Reneilwe Msiza.
