One busted as Bangladesh businessman is robbed at gunpoint

One suspect was arrested while two are still at large following an armed business robbery which took place on March 7 near the Shalimar Ridge taxi rank.

The incident took place around 20:00 when three men barged into Unity Super Market, forcing the owner to hand over all the cash in his cash register.

While one of the suspects pointed a gun at the owner Mohammad Alam, the second grabbed him by the throat. The third suspect guarded the door.

“I know these men. They used to buy from my shop every morning. They did not even wear masks,” Alam said.

Members of Heidelberg SAPS and local security companies were quick to respond and later managed to arrest one of the suspects in Extension 23, Ratanda.
