Nigel Crime report – 2 to 9 December 2018

Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide. The incident occurred in Springs Road on December 7 when the suspects were pursued by an EMPD officer.

A motorcycle was stolen at a house in Salie Street on December 2.
According to police spokesperson Sgt Nellie Dwaba, the incident occurred around 12:15.

Police are investigating a case of common robbery which occurred at a tavern in Northern Road on December 4.

A car was stolen in front of a block of flats in Post Street on December 5.

A truck driver and passenger were reportedly robbed at gunpoint while walking alongside the road after their truck had broken down.
The incident occurred in Springs Road on December 6. Police were alerted and searched for the suspects who had fled into a nearby bush. Shortly thereafter, one suspect was apprehended and arrested.

Police are investigating a case of stock theft after three goats were reported stolen in Jameson Park on December 6.

A burglary occurred at a business in Vorsterskroon on December 7, where several industrial machines were reported stolen.

The incident occurred in Springs Road on December 7 when the suspects were pursued by an EMPD officer. In addition, police are also investigating a case of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and possession of a stolen vehicle.

A car (Toyota Hilux bakkie) was stolen at Nigel Golf Club on December 8.
The owner of the vehicle told police that his wallet containing several bank cards and jewellery were also locked inside the glove compartment of the bakkie.

One suspect was arrested and charged with attempted murder, following a shooting which occurred at a house in Reitz Street on December 8.
According to Sgt Dwaba, a brawl between males resulted in one of them drawing a firearm and shooting the other in the upper body. The victim was later transported to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery to have the bullet removed.

A burglary occurred at a house in Bloekom Avenue on December 8, where several items including a bicycle, fishing equipment and tools were reported stolen.

Police are investigating a case of murder which took place in Jameson Park on December 9.
According to Sgt Dwaba, the body of an African male was found in an open veld, with a gunshot wound in the head. No arrests have been made.
