Seven drivers arrested for excessive speeding.
On Tuesday, 11 December, seven speedsters were thrown behind bars for excessive speeding.
On Tuesday, 11 December between 5am and 10am on R23 between Ouhout and Airport Roads as well as on R554 between Vincent van Goch Street and R23, seven speedsters were thrown behind bars for excessive speeding.
On R23 which is an 80km/h zone, four drivers were arrested when clocked at 117, 116, 113 and 112km/h. All arrestees, aged between 26 and 40 with one female, advanced no reasons for not adhering to the speed limit.
On R554 which is a 70km/h zone three arrests were made when the drivers registered speeds of 151, 113 and 109km/h. The three arrested drivers aged 28, 36 and 42 claimed they were late for appointments.
All seven speedsters were released without setting bail for them after being charged with reckless and negligent driving.
They are expected to appear in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court soon.
