Sasol remains committed to Dipaleseng’s development

The planned construction is for 19, 4 km of sewer network and 16 km for potable water, both including main lines and erven connections as well as about 800 toilet top structures.

Dipaleseng Local Municipality together with SASOL, delegation led by the Executive Mayor, Clr. Mafunda Makhubu and the Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Mrs Maureen Mboshane held the last bilaterals for the year on Thursday, 29th November 2018 to reflect on the Social Labour Plan and Social Investment projects implemented in Dipaleseng since the inception of Impumelelo Mine.

Speaking at the meeting, the Executive Mayor expressed his sincere gratitude with regards to the sewer network at Greylingstad/Willemsdal, Upgrading of Waste Water Treatment Works currently underway in Nthoroane, Township proclamation process at Zenzele informal settlement wherein about one thousand three hundred stands are to be formalised and developed.

Approval for township establishment has since been obtained from the Communal Property Association (Sizanani) for Zenzele Informal settlement in Nthoroane. SASOL is assisting the municipality with proclamation process of the one thousand three hundred stands, a service provider has already been appointed to conduct all required town planning processes, thus environmental, traffic, geotechnical assessments and so forth are currently underway.

It is anticipated that the Township proclamation process will be completed by April 2019, while construction is set to commence in July 2019 and be completed in June 2020.

SASOL also presented their 2019 commitments with regards to skills development and job opportunities wherein a substantial number of locals stand to benefit.

Another program that SASOL is implementing in the municipality is the fight against drug and substance abuse through establishment of a MARC Centre located at Siyathemba Thusong Service Centre.

SASOL further committed itself to continue with Education Learner Support in Dipaleseng.

Engagements will commence soon in the new year to discuss another cycle for the SLP and CSI Projects.
