Arrive Alive Campaign to reduce road fatalities will be launched tomorrow

Alcohol, fatigue, reckless driving and disregard of the rules of the road by pedestrians were among contributing factors to the road death toll.

The City of Ekurhuleni will launch its Arrive Alive campaign on Wednesday, 5 December 2018 at Huntersfield Stadium in Katlehong.

According to Road Traffic Management Corporation 2017 road fatality report, 14 050 people died on the roads last year. More than 35 per cent of those were pedestrians.

Alcohol, fatigue, reckless driving and disregard of the rules of the road by pedestrians were among contributing factors to the road death toll.

The Arrive Alive campaign launch, to be officiated by the City of Ekurhuleni MMC for Community Safety Cllr Vivienne Chauke and Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Chief of Police Isaac Mapiyeye, will focus on road safety awareness for motorists and pedestrians, as well as law enforcement.
