Month of the eldery charity drive

Mahlaba used to be a volunteer at the Ratanda Day Care Centre and saw how senior citizens were excluded from normal day-to-day activities in the community.

Nthabiseng Mahlaba was the power behind a two day charity pampering session for aged residents of Ratanda.
Mahlaba used to be a volunteer at the Ratanda Day Care Centre and saw how senior citizens were excluded from normal day-to-day activities in the community. She found more volunteers to help her spoil the seniors by offering them a day of free haircuts and the ladies received hand massages and manicures.

Mahlaba is the spokesperson for this charity drive. “Older people are incredible assets to the nation. We must take care of and listen to them. They have knowledge and wisdom that can strengthen our foundation and will help in building a better life for all,” Mahlaba said. She further told HERAUT that the goal they wish to achieve is to be able to do this on a quarterly basis. The volunteers helped 110 aged citizens of both Ratanda Day Care Centre and Ratanda Old Age Home in two days.

Mahlaba invites all qualified hairdressers and beauticians in Ratanda to get involved by offering their service and or products for the next drive.
