Heidelberg Mall is committed to education and community upliftment in Heidelberg and surrounding communities.

Staff and management of Heidelberg Mall launched its first Memeza Project on August 7.

Memeza Community Safety, commonly referred to as Memeza is a community and personal safety company that was established in 2012. Their products include a range of personal safety wear such as alarms and other household panic alarm systems which are aimed to deter potential criminal activity and allow those who are vulnerable to feel protected.

“The Memeza Personal Safety Alarm alerts other people when you are in trouble, by making a noise. It is a small carry-on personal alarm with a capacity of 140 decibels when activated. The battery life lasts up to two years and can be replaced with a normal watch battery,” centre manager Lebo Legwale explained. The personal alarm is ideal for attaching to handbags, car keys and schoolbags.

Heidelberg Mall donated 110 personal alarms to the Heidelberg Society for the Aged.
