Investigations are underway following a case of stock theft, which occurred at Langzeekoegat (Rietkuil) on July 17.
According to police spokesperson Sgt Nellie Dwaba two calves worth around R16 000 had been reported stolen.
Police are investigating an assault case, following an incident that occurred outside Nigel Magistrate’s Court on July 18.
A case of malicious damage to property is being investigated after thugs had stolen the battery of an electric gate motor at a house in Doncaster Street on July 19.
Police arrested a suspect who was attempting to remove steel pipes from a business premises in Hendrik Verwoerd Street on July 20. He was charged with business burglary and is expected to appear in Nigel Magistrate’s Court soon.
Police arrested a male person for assault (with the purpose to inflict grievous bodily harm), after he assaulted another man with a broken beer bottle at Hallgate on July 21. A burglary occurred at a house in Alrapark Extension 3 on July 21. Cash and household items to the value of around R8500 were reported stolen.
An armed robbery occurred in Hendrik Verwoerd Street on July 21. The victim reported that he was walking along the road when he noticed an African male entering a nearby liquor store. Minutes later the suspect left the liquor store and when he passed the victim, he turned around and pressed something against the victim’s hip. The suspect told the victim to get into a white Nissan Almera that was parked nearby. He demanded cash and the victim’s bank card with its ATM pin. The suspect drove off and after a while the victim received a cellphone notification that R900 had been withdrawn from his account. No arrests have been made.
A car battery was stolen at a house in Crow Avenue, Jameson Park on July 21.
One suspect was arrested for malicious damage to property on July 22 in Alrapark Extension 3, following a domestic argument. The suspect is accused of repeatedly entering the victim’s house and breaking or damaging her property.
HEIDELBERG
Police are investigating a truck hijacking which occurred on the N3 (Heidelberg) on July 19. According to police spokesperson Capt Tshilate, the truck was reportedly pulled over by three African males in traffic officers’ uniform who drove a white bakkie with blue lights. After bringing the truck to a stop, one of the ‘traffic officers’ produced a firearm and aimed at the driver. He was told to get out of the truck and to lie down on the ground in the veld, where his hands and feet were tied up. The ‘traffic officers’ soon thereafter, drove off with the truck.
A VW Polo worth around R174 500 were reported stolen at Nel Street, Rensburg on July 19. Police are still investigating the matter.
Police are investigating a case of theft, after a break-in which occurred at an attorney’s firm in Meyer Street on July 19. It was reported that around 3m of copper cable had been stolen.
One person was arrested after a burglary which occurred at a business at Boschfontein smallholdings on July 20. A computer stand, chairs, tyres, fridge and several other items were reported stolen. The suspect was arrested the following day, after he allegedly returned to the scene of the crime. He was noticed by an employee who chased and later apprehended him.
Police are investigating a carjacking which reportedly occurred along the N3 between Heidelberg and Johannesburg on July 20. The victim claims he was at a Stop on the off-ramp, when he was approached by six African males who came from a brown coloured car behind him. He was reportedly pushed to the backseat of his own car and they drove for approximately an hour, before the victim was told to get out. He walked for around 10 minutes before he reached a farm house, where he asked for help.
A burglary occurred at a house in Jordaan Street on July 20. After ransacking the house, the suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, meat, electronic equipment, firearms, vintage toys and jewellery worth around R140 000 in total. They also managed to break open the victim’s safe. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
Police are investigating a case of murder, following an incident which occurred on the R42 next to Jordaan Park on July 20, when the body of an unknown male was discovered inside a stationary vehicle. The discovery was made shortly after police received complaints of gunshots in the area. The deceased had been shot several times.
A carjacking, which reportedly occurred on the N3 (Jacobs off-ramp) was reported to the police on July 20. According to Capt Tshilate, the driver of a Ford Ranger (worth around R610 000) had been hijacked after she was pulled over by a ‘police officer’ who requested her to produce her drivers’ licence. When she reached over for her bag, she heard the sound of a cocking firearm and when she looked back, she saw the ‘police officer’ aiming at her. She was told to move to the back, upon which another three African males appeared from nowhere. After driving for a while, the victim was dropped next to the road at an area unknown to her, where she was later assisted by a local resident to call the police for help.
A burglary occurred at a house in Tulpe Street, Bergsig on June 20. Household items to the value of around R10 000 were reported stolen. No arrests have been made.
