At the age of 22 she was in a customary marriage, which by definition is one that is negotiated, celebrated or concluded according to any of the systems of indigenous African customary law which exist in South Africa.

Eight children were born from the marriage and to keep food on the table, Regina earned a living as a domestic worker.

She is blessed with 23 grandchildren and has many great grandchildren. Regina was recently diagnosed with diabetes which restricts her from moving around freely.

According to her granddaughter Amelia, she spends most of her time in bed, but she is otherwise healthy.
