Emily Nxumalo celebrates 100 years of living
Officially, Tengase Emily Nxumalo is referred to as a centenarian as she has lived for over 100 years.
She was born on 2 February 1918 in Bethlehem and moved to the former Eastern Transvaal province over 50 years ago.
Emily has 10 children and says there are too many grand- and great grandchildren to remember. Experiencing life for 100 years is a significant milestone that calls for celebration, but Emily, who lives with family in Siyathemba, said every ageing day is a celebrated blessing.
She visited Nigel Home Affairs on June 26 to collect the new ID card, which will replace the old green ID book which she has had for many years.
