Passing out parade at Army Gymnasium produces many fine officers
144 Candidates from The Army Gymnasium received their officers’ course qualification during the Officers’ Formative passing out parade on June 13.
The candidates successfully completed a six month course of military training and are now ready to take the lead as second lieutenant officers.
General Lindile Yam first inspected the formation of officers, whereafter he proceeded to hand out certificates and trophies to six candidates who excelled during the course.
Lt Werner Benecke was awarded a trophy for best academic learner and best overall learner, while second Lt Rosinah Mabogoane was awarded a trophy for best discipline level during the course.
Second Lt Dibakiso Matlakala was announced fittest female and Lt Bayabonga Khumalo the fittest male. The trophy for neatest female was awarded to Lt Tsholofelo Mahomed and neatest male went to Lt Mbuyiseni Mthembu.
Gen Yam congratulated the officers on their achievements and reminded them that they will soon be in positions where fellow officers’ lives depend on the decisions they make. They were urged to comply with the SA Army Gymnasium’s mission to be the best at what they do.
Army Gymnasium is responsible for Officers Formative training, NCO Formative training as well as ETD related training within the South African Army. Since it was reinstated as a training unit for junior candidates in the SA Army, hundreds and thousands of officers successfully completed their training courses and served their country in uniform.
After the event, guests were treated to lunch.
