Hit and run suspect at large

SAPS Ratanda need assistance regarding a case of hit and run (38/5/2018) which occurred on May 12 at around 10:00 in Blackwood Street, Extension 23 Ratanda.

A four-year-old was injured and taken to Heidelberg Hospital for treatment. The suspect is known to many residents in the area. He is an African male (believed to be in his late twenties) and a Ratanda resident. On the same day of the incident at around 11:00, angered members of the community took to a house in Gxowa Street, Extension 23 where they thought the suspect was residing. After looting the house, they allegedly set it on fire.

 
When police arrived, they discovered that the suspect was not the owner of the house and a case of arson was also opened (41/5/2018) against members of the community who were involved in the incident.
