A burglar was killed in the early hours of this morning (April 3) after he was caught red-handed with a TV-set that he apparently stole from a house in Shalimar Ridge.
Police responded to a burglary in progress and Ratanda police arrived first on the scene. The policeman spotted the suspect running towards him with a TV-set in his hands.
The suspect threw the TV at the police officer and reached inside his pocket. A struggle ensued and shots were fired. The suspect stumbled a few metres away before he collapsed. He was later declared dead on the scene.
Police have opened an inquest.
