Bus driver crashes into traffic cop’s vehicle in Heidelberg

Mob wants to attack officer for arresting driver.

A 49-year-old bus driver of Intercity was arrested for reckless and negligent driving and for obstructing justice when he refused to obey a Gauteng provincial traffic officer who ordered him to stop on the Balfour Road next to Rensburg. The traffic officer was redirecting traffic so that an abnormal load could pass through.

The bus driver ignored the officer and smashed into his vehicle. When the officer tried to arrest him, passengers and passersby tried to obstruct him from doing his duty.

Heidelberg SAPS intervened and the bus driver was taken to Heidelberg Police Station and appeared in court the next day.
