Double life sentences for Heidelberg rapist

Regional Magistrate Du Plessis strikes again.

Magistrate Pieter du Plessis on January 30 handed down a hefty sentence to convicted rapist and robber, Norman Scotch Moyo (28) in Heidelberg’s Regional Court.
Moyo will serve two life sentences (for two counts of rape) and another 35 years (to be served concurrently with the life sentences) for aggravated robbery. Du Plessis is known for his no-nonsense stance against criminals and he again showcased that he will not hesitate to give hefty sentences.

The Zimbabwean national was convicted on September 7, 2016, on four counts (two for rape and two for aggravated robbery) after two separate incidents (on November 28, 2010 and April 2, 2013 respectively) whereby he ambushed his victims in the veld near Heidelberg Mall. Moyo then raped and assaulted the women before he robbed them of personal belongings.

Mr Richard Mathabela was the state prosecutor.
