Ekurhuleni libraries now have E-books

NIGEL - The days of walking into a library to borrow a book are now a thing of the past for Ekurhuleni library users. Users can now use advanced technology to borrow books online.

An E-book is an electronic version of a printed book which can be borrowed by library users electronically for a period of two weeks. The system will automatically retrieve it thereafter for other users to access it.
The E-book is available to all registered library users and can be downloaded for free by punching in the library membership number after typing in this link

“The City’s ultimate purpose for this initiative is to encourage the culture of reading amongst our citizens and to provide convenient access to books at any given time without walking into the library,” Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality spokesperson Themba Gadebe said.

“Plans are in place to roll out an educational awareness campaign across the City to assist library users and librarians to be familiar with using the online site,” Gadebe explained.
