POPCRU members air their grievances

Heidelberg Correctional Services' workers joined in.

POPCRU (Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union) members are protesting about the lack of overtime payment (working on public holidays without overtime payment) and no new uniforms for the past five years.

Officials of Heidelberg Correctional Services were demonstrating in front of the entrance to the jail on the R23. “We are not striking. We are just demonstrating (or picketing) to let our grievances be heard. We are doing this during our lunch time, so it is not interfering with our work,” Seruwe Chabalala (chairperson of the local branch of POPCRU) told HERAUT.

They will join national members in a march to Johannesburg on June 30 to air their grievances.
