Shalimar Ridge Primary School’s soccer team is tops!

Shalimar Ridge Primary School’s u/12 soccer team is the Sedibeng winners of the Danone Nations Cup that was played on May 24 in Sharpeville. The team only started playing soccer last year and managed to win the semi-final game against Emmanuel Primary School 2-0 which landed them in the finals where they managed to beat Arconpark Primary School 2-1. Arconpark was the defending champions.

Mr Yusuf Khan (principal) said he is proud of the coach, Lenny Palitha and the team for winning, despite the lack of having a decent soccer field or equipment. He is appealing to businesses and community members to help the school with funds for soccer kits and upgrading the soccer field.
The team will now proceed to the provincial level of the competition which will be played later in June in Johannesburg.
