The accident occurred opposite the Brikor premises around 15:30 on May 19, when a truck collided with the rear of another truck.

“Although no-one sustained serious injuries, it could have been fatal, had the trucks collided head-on,” Karen told HERAUT.

Karen has worked for Brikor Limited for the past 15 years and said only once during this time had the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport fixed the potholes on Marievale Road. Despite countless attempts made by Karen to have the road widened or to have speed breakers applied to the road, she has reached a dead end with the department.

As of recent, Karen approached Superintendent Nayden from Nigel Metro Police to ask whether he could deploy law enforcement on the road to reduce speeding, but to no avail.
