Zimbabwean flung himself in front of truck

A Zimbabwean national tried twice to end his life by jumping in front of oncoming vehicles on the R23 (near Rensburg) on Sunday mid afternoon. When these two attempts fail, he threw himself in front of an oncoming truck and died on impact.

Heidelberg Police says the man first tried to throw himself in front of a bus, which managed to stop in time. He then jumped in front of an oncoming vehicle but did not sustain serious injuries. Paramedics at the time did not know about the man’s wish to die. He refused treatment and did not want to climb in the ambulance. He walked away.

A couple of metres from the scene he managed to throw himself in front of an oncoming truck.
