Heidelberg Police apprehends three armed robbers

Constables don't back down from hardened criminals

Constables Julius Dlamini and Simon Nyambose apprehended three armed criminals early this morning after they robbed a foreign national business in Ratanda.

The constables heard the radio warning from Ratanda Police Station and gave chase. They came across the suspect Volkswagen Golf GTI near the R23 (Balfour) and R549 (Vaaldam) intersection and cornered it.

When the constables approached the vehicle they noticed that one of the passengers reached for something at his feet. Warning shots were fired and the three robbers handed themselves over.

More police officers came to the rescue and the suspects were taken into custody.
Two unlicensed firearms were found in the suspect vehicle.
